Casa Dos Alas Celebrates Successful First Pop-Up Market and Launches Ambitious Fundraising Campaign
ROGERS, ARK. –– Casa Dos Alas, a local nonprofit committed to combating food insecurity in Northwest Arkansas’s Hispanic communities, is thrilled to announce the launch of its fundraising campaign to raise $500,000 by June 2025. This ambitious initiative follows the success of its first pop-up market held at Bayyari Elementary School in East Springdale on September 8, which served a diverse group of families in the local community.
The pop-up market was an impactful community event, serving 72 households and 370 individuals, including 164 children. Eighty-four percent of those served were Hispanic. The event distributed over 500 pounds of fresh produce, meats, and staples donated by Twin City Produce, Hertzog Meat Company, and the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank. Kellanova donated backpacks full of school supplies. Contributions from Pedal It Forward and PepsiCo added to the community spirit, ensuring attendees not only received nutritional support but also enjoyed a vibrant community gathering.
Juan Bahena, Executive Director of Casa Dos Alas, shared his enthusiasm about the event's impact: "This pop-up market not only provided necessary resources to our community but also reinforced its strong bonds. We are excited to build on this momentum with our fundraising campaign, aiming to expand our reach and deepen our impact over the coming year."
Susana Bahena, co-founder and board member at Casa Dos Alas, highlighted the strategic location choice: "By setting up our pop-up market right in the heart of the community, we've met our neighbors where they are. The high foot traffic and accessibility of the event were direct results of our commitment to making food truly accessible. Most of our attendees came by foot, showcasing our dedication to removing barriers to food access.”
"Our collaboration with Casa Dos Alas is instrumental in developing a culturally informed approach to food insecurity that truly serves the needs of the communities we care deeply about,” said Mallory Magie-Garrik, Major Gifts Officer of the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank.
As Casa Dos Alas rolls out its fundraising campaign, the organization introduces several giving tiers to encourage community involvement and support:
Familia Tier: Donations of $50,000+ receive yearlong recognition on all materials, branding at all events, and ten VIP tickets to all Casa Dos Alas events, including Noche En Jalisco.
Hermanos Tier: Contributions between $25,000 and $49,999 offer similar benefits with eight VIP event tickets.
Amigos Tier: With donations of $10,000 to $24,999, donors get six VIP tickets.
Comunidad Tier: Donations between $5,000 and $9,999 reward donors with four VIP tickets.
Additional individual donor tiers from $25 to over $5,000 are also available, each offering varying levels of recognition and benefits. More details can be found at casadosalas.com/support.
Looking ahead, Casa Dos Alas plans more pop-up markets this fall and will be featured at the upcoming Bite NWA from September 27-29, where a portion of ticket sales will benefit the organization.
